This past summer I received an email from the Iowa DNR informing me that I had been selected for an Iowa Governors tag. After drawing a Zone 3 tag last year and having a very tough hunt, I was excited to get a second chance at an Iowa whitetail. Whitetail Properties’ Jason Smith and Chad Freeberg were kind enough to invite Shawn and I back up for an attempt at a little redemption. Lucky for us they had just listed one of the most sought after properties in Western Iowa and we were getting to hunt it. After almost a full week of scouting, hunting, hanging stands, moving stands, close calls, ups and downs we had pretty much had it. On the last morning of the hunt we had a nice coyote come strolling by and I didn’t hesitate to release a little frustration. Little did I know we would have a stud of an Iowa buck come cruising by a mere 30 minutes after shooting the coyote! The rest is history! I cannot thank everyone enough for all the help…this was a total group effort. Shawn, Jason, Chad, Scott, Troy and especially Doc for allowing us to hunt this “forbidden” property. If you or anyone you know is in the martket for a hunting farm, be sure to check this one out. It is a truly amazing piece of ground!

That is a great buck and a great story! Can’t wait to see it next season.
Congrats! wish you even more luck! keep it up!
Excellent work, congrats on a great buck….. little more on him, me and my friend have been hunting (Browny- as we call him) for the past 2 yrs, we have lots of footage of him and named him for his dark main beams… looks like our guy and we have been hunting his out/in trails on adjacent property. He is a beautiful specimen of a buck and he has even bigger friends/relatives in the area. Again congrats on a great bag. (PS: heard about you guys getting into Doc’s property for your hunt, via Troy’s brother Aron that I work with, lots of envious locals around here !!).
Congrats
Kurt

Kurt you need to round up the locals and get some money together, I’d love to see you die hard hunters end up with this property!
